‘Don’t Look Back Unless it’s a Good View’ | Works by Joana Astolfi | Nimmos Restaurant and Gallery | Ireland | 2012 | In this exhibition, Astolfi brings together a selection of 12 pieces that celebrate the main essence of her work. Her work focuses on the transformation of obsolete objects through conceptual twists, creating one-off pieces, a collection of ‘objets d’art’, each telling it’s own unique story. Astolfi likes to celebrate imperfections and mistakes, often evoking humor in her pieces. She’s particularly interested in the process of resuscitating found objects, giving them a second life and evidencing the tension ‘before’ and ‘after’ her interventions.
